This is a hunt with two separate caches with three additional sites to visit to pick up clues necessary to find the second cache. The first cache is small, but the second cache is large and worthy.

*** The original Jose Gaspar cache is back! It has been repaired and restocked. Come & Get It! 8/11/01 ****

Jose Gaspar was a Spanish pirate that prowled the waters of Tampa Bay. One of the more successful pirates, Gaspar is credited with capturing over 400 ships from 1789 to 1820. He allegedly buried treasure in numerous places throughout the west coast of Florida. Here’s your chance to find some treasure of your own.

Complete instructions for finding the three clue sites plus the final motherlode cache are included in the first cache box. The final box is much larger than the first (the final box is 10 gallons in size). Between the two caches, over 100 items are included. There is something for all members of the family.

We've given this a 2.5 difficulty because there are multiple sites and clues, plus we have been deliberately ambiguous about the exact location of each of the the caches. You'll have to think and search a little bit for each one. They may be challenging, but they are not brain-busters. Stick with it and you'll be hauling in the loot.

The first site is near the Friendship Trailbridge which runs parallel to the Gandy Bridge. The trailbridge is 3 miles long. No motor vehicles are allowed, so it is great for biking, walking or rollerblading. Bring your bike or blades with you if you want to spend some nice hours in the sun. There is swimming available on either side of the trailbridge, so you can cool off if you get overheated.

You can expect to see more Gaspar caches in the near future.

Have fun and good luck! -Jose
